“Erick was our baby and our best friend and we miss him greatly. He inspired us and we are grateful of the time we had with him and the experiences we shared as a family. We’ve only all recently returned from a safari in Kenya and returned full of hope for the future.
“He was an unselfish boy who was popular with everyone and we’ve been overwhelmed with the support from across the community. We’ll remember him for raising hundreds of pounds for Marie Curie but wanting no fuss made about his achievements – even though he’d shaved off his Afro twice to raise money. That was Erick. That was a true measure of his personality. He wasn’t after self-praise, he just wanted to help others.

Figures released by Heritage Great Britain plc show an 8% increase in revenue and a 5% increase in visitor numbers across its Heritage Attractions portfolio compared to last year.
The portfolio includes Snowdon Mountain Railway and The Needles on the Isle of Wight whose combined revenue increased by £1.1m.

Visitor numbers released by Snowdon Mountain Railway show an increase of almost 20% compared to last year.
Between March and October, more than 130,000 people travelled on the railway, which is the only one of its kind in the UK.

Shaun the Sheep, Wallace and Gromit and friends are moving to Land’s End after the site’s owner Heritage Great Britain PLC signed a deal to bring a new interactive family experience to the south west.
A joint venture has been agreed between Aardman Animations and Heritage Great Britain to create the half a million pound tourist attraction at the Cornish landmark.

North West charity Alternative Futures Group (AFG), whose head office is in Prescot on Merseyside, is celebrating after being crowned Charity of the Year at this year’s Charity Times Awards.
AFG, which supports more than 1100 people every year with learning disabilities and mental health needs, beat off competition from Citizens Advice, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Stroke Association and United Response in the charity with an income of more than £30 million category.
