A special service is taking place in Leicester to mark the first anniversary of the Air India plane crash.
The London bound plane went down shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad in western India on 12 June last year.
Viswashkumar Ramesh from Spinney Hills in Leicester was the sole survivor of the tragedy which claimed 260 lives.
This month, a service at the Shree Hanuman Temple on Melton Road is being organised in memory of all those who lost their lives in the tragedy, many of whom had close family connections to Leicester and were worshippers at the temple.
Rajesh Patel, Secretary, Shree Hanuman temple said:
“Many families within our congregation were directly affected by this tragedy.
“The remembrance service is an opportunity for our community to come together, pray for those who died and offer strength and compassion to bereaved families and friends.
“It continues to impact our community and the service will include prayers, recitals, the lighting of candles and time to reflect.”
The service will take place at Shree Hanuman Temple, 299 Melton Road, 299 Melton Rd, Leicester, LE4 7AN on Saturday 13th June at 10.30 am where there will a recital of eleven Hanuman Chalisa in memory of those who lost their lives and for everyone affected by the tragedy.
