Crosby restaurant leads the way with 100% recycling record

One of Crosby’s oldest established restaurants is leading the way in making Sefton a cleaner and greener borough.

Barbacoa on Mersey View in Waterloo recycles one hundred percent (100%) of its waste every month.

Barbacoa owner Gordon Tartt said:

“We’re proud of the fact that we waste very little and what we do throw away does not go direct to landfill.

“We feel it’s important that as responsible citizens, we all try to do our bit for the environment.

“By working with B&M waste services, we’re also looking at other ways of reducing our indirect carbon emissions.”

Paul Seasman from B&M Waste Services said:

“Barbacoa has three recycling bins with food waste going in the food bins and paper, card, plastics and metal going in dry mixed recycle bins.

“For the first four months of this year Barbacoa’s carbon savings of 4000kg were the equivalent of travelling 800 miles by car.

“Put another way, with no onward journey to landfill, Barbacoa has saved the equivalent carbon of four trees.”

Glass from the restaurant is recycled by another company.
